The 2024 Harbin Institute of Technology Global Summer School kicked off with a grand opening ceremony in the main auditorium on July 16th. Hosted by Zhang Yu from the Faculty of Computing, the event was attended by Xu Ping, the Vice Dean of the Undergraduate College and Director of Academic Affairs, who gave a welcoming address. Also present was Professor Li Hui, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from our School of Civil Engineering, along with leaders from various faculties and a diverse group of summer school students.

Xu Ping warmly greeted the gathered teachers and students, highlighting that the summer school serves as a dynamic platform for cultural exchange, learning, collaboration, and friendship-building among students from around the globe. He encouraged participants to embrace the opportunity to explore technological advancements and broaden their worldviews.

Representatives from both the teaching and student bodies took the stage to share their thoughts. Professor Zhang Yong from the School of Materials Science and Engineering spoke on behalf of the faculty, while VLADIMIRSKAIA MARIIA, a student from Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and Wu Aijie, a student from HIT, represented their peers.

Capitalizing on our institution’s unique academic strengths, we’ve organized 16 themed global summer schools this year. The program includes engaging short courses, cutting-edge lectures, research projects, and academic competitions. We’ve brought in over 80 leading scholars from places like Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Singapore to enrich the learning experience for more than 500 enthusiastic undergraduate students. This diverse group includes 160 international students from 24 different countries such as Russia, Belarus, Korea, and Japan, making it a truly global learning environment.
