From July 15 to 26, 2024, the Global Summer School on “Chasing the Future: Advanced Optoelectronic Information Materials” was successfully held at Harbin Institute of Technology. This event, a part of the university’s Global Summer School program in Materials Science, was organized by the Undergraduate College and hosted by the School of Materials Science and Engineering. It saw participation of 26 students from various domestic universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and Technology of China, and Xi’an Jiaotong University, as well as international institutions such as Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys, ITMO University in St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk State University.
The summer school featured a blend of lectures and discussions led by renowned experts from universities in the UK, Sweden, Russia, and Portugal. The lectures focused on advanced topics like optoelectronic materials, device physics, processing, and integration, helping students build a comprehensive understanding of these fields from fundamental principles. The discussion sessions allowed students to deepen their understanding through interactive exchanges with the experts. Over the two weeks, participants engaged in in-depth exploration of scientific issues related to advanced optoelectronic materials, enhanced their grasp of new materials and technologies in energy and communication, and further sparked their interest in this research area.
