From July 15 to July 25, Harbin Institute of Technology hosted the “Talent Development Camp for International Organizations” as part of its 2024 Global Summer School. This program was organized by Undergraduate College and managed by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. It welcomed 37 participants from leading domestic universities such as Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and the University of Science and Technology of China, as well as international students from Russia and South Korea.
The summer school featured short-term courses led by prominent experts including Hans Willmann, a former HR Officer at the United Nations and a senior HR specialist at the World Health Organization’s Geneva Office, and Edwin McDaniel, an intercultural studies expert from San Diego State University. The program also included lectures from Su Hao and Niu Zhongjun of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Xu Jin from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences’ Institute of World Economics and Politics, and Song Langrun from Harbin Institute of Technology’s School of Environment, who previously interned at the UNESCO East Africa Regional Office.
The “Talent Development Camp for International Organizations” leveraged the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences’ resources in international organizations and global governance. By offering high-quality courses in intercultural communication and country studies, and featuring distinguished scholars from both domestic and international institutions, the camp aims to develop future professionals for international organizations. These individuals are expected to have a strong grasp of Chinese perspectives, a broad international outlook, familiarity with global regulations, and excellent intercultural communication and engagement skills.
