From July 14th to 28th, the “Intelligent Robot” International Summer School, organized by the School of Mechatronics Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, was successfully held. Relying on the National Key Laboratory of Robotics and Systems, the program attracted a total of 79 students from prestigious universities, including Fudan University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology of China, South China University of Technology, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Novosibirsk State Technical University, Yonsei University, and the National University of Mongolia.
Lectures
The summer school offered specialized courses taught by renowned experts in the field of intelligent robotics. Professor Kenneth Grattan, an Academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the President of the International Measurement Confederation, gave an engaging presentation on fiber-optic sensing technology in intelligent robotics. Other distinguished speakers included Academician Andreas Mandelis from the University of Toronto, Professor Bradley Nelson from ETH Zurich, Professor Zhirong Liao, who is an Associate Editor of the top-tier journal International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, and researchers from HIT’s School of Mechatronics Engineering: Professors Hai Tao Yu, Junjie Zhang, Yingdan Wu, Shuai Yuan, and Jipeng Yan. These experts shared their insights into the cutting-edge technologies and the current developments in the field of intelligent robotics.
Themed Competition
The themed competition segment featured the HIT “Intelligent Robot” International Summer School Curling Robot Challenge. Participants gained hands-on experience in structural design, control systems, and logical programming for intelligent robots, applying these skills in competitive matches. The event fostered an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie, providing students with highly effective practical training and enhancing their understanding of intelligent robotics. The competition achieved excellent educational outcomes.
